ARCHON
Description: Federated digital library for physics, based on ARC provider service, freely accessible online, except for the subscription resources.
Content: It comes from a project among Old Dominion University, American Physical Society, Los Alamos National Laboratory. The meta reads simultaneously Physical Review D, ArXiv, the CEN open resources and NASA report related to physics, with a link to the full text for most of all the material. Consistensy: since 1960.
Art theorists of the Italian Renaissance
Description: Online university, available through Tatoo by clients located in the Central libraries.
Content: CD-ROM collection of the full text of the most important Italian art and architecture of XIV and XVII centuries, treatises, among them the first and the second edition of Giorgio Vasari lives (Vite di Giorgio Vasari), De Pictura by Loen Battista Alberti, the Four books of Palladio Architecture (I Quattro Libri dell' Archiettura di Palladio), the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili by Francesco Colonna and the Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae. All works are reproduced with the original drawings.
Bibliography of History of Art
Description: It's a bibliographic data base related to the history of art (european and american).
Content: It contains articles from 1200 titols of periodicals, books, proceedings and exposition catalogues. It's available with IBA (International Bibliography of Art) and RILA (Répertoire de la littérature de l'art).
ChemSpider
Description: Chemical database for the online search facilities and properties.
Content: It offers access to more than 26 million chemical structures.
CiteSeer.IST
Description: Digital library, indexing scientific literature freely available on the net. It's also available the citations automatic indexing.
Content: More tham 730,000 scientific papers are indexed, with particular care to reprints.
DrugBank
Description: Full text data base related to chemistry and pharmacology.
Content The database, result of a project by Genome Alberta & Genome Canada, a canadian non-prpfit association, provides detailed information about drugs and their chemical structure, and includes more than 6,000 proteins. Data cover FDA-approved drugs and experimental drugs. For each entry in the database there is a registration card ( “DrugCard entry”), with more than 80 fields to collect information. The database offers bseveral search options for keywords, sequence or structural formula.
Econlit
Description: Federated digital library for physics, based on ARC provider service, freely accessible online, except for the subscription resources.
Content: Politecnico professors can read the database contacting prof. Calderini (e-mail : mario.calderini@polito.it -- tel. 011 090 7235) from DISPEA department. Prof. Calderini put on disposition his personal copy.
EPA
Description: Full text database related to the environment.
Content: EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) of the United States provides free online their collections and documentation in the field of environmental proctection together with software and various types of electronic equipment.
Intute
Description: Free service online that allows to acceed to Internte resources selected fot didactics and research.
Content: More than 118,000 records, relating to every type of online research.. The portal, developed by a consortium of UK universities, is divided into 4 sections (Science, engineering and technology; Arts and humanities; Social sciences; Health and life sciences), searchable together or separately. The section of Science, engineering and technology brings together three existing services: FEVL (engineeirng, mathematics and informatics), Gesource (geography and environment), PSIgate (physical sciences).
MatWeb
Description: Full text database to the science of materials. .
Content: The database, produced by Automation Creations Inc (Balcksburg, Virginia), provides data on more than 59,000 metal and plastic materials, ceramics and composites.
PubChem
Description: Bibliographic database relating to chemistry.
Content: PubChem provides information on biological activities of small molecules.
It consists of three related databases:
PubChem Substance: it searches the records of the registered chemicals, using names, synonimous and key words.
PubChem Compound: it searches chemical strucures, using names, synonimous and ley words.
PubChem BioAssay: it searches the records of biological evidence of drugs.
PubMed
Description: Bibliographic database relating to medecine.
Content: Service of the National Librey of Medecine, includes more , than 15 millions of bibliographic records of biomedical articles taken from MEDLINE. PubliMed provides also some links to other related resources. Since 1950.
SPIN
Description: Bibliographic database relating to physics.
Content: SPIN (Searchable Physics Information Notices) is produced by the American Institute of Physics. The database indexes about 100 periodicals in Physics and includes 1.000.000 of bibliographic record about. Update is daily. Bibliographic records contian links to the full text of the articles. Links are active for those e-journals to wich Politecnico has the paper subscription.
Retrospective courring of Italian architecture and urban planning reviews
Description: Database in progress, based on a CNBA project, freely accessible on the web.
Content: the perusal of the Italian architecture reviews, coordinated by CNBA, started in autumn 2000. Five Architecture libraries from different universities, (Torino Politecnico, Universities of Genova, Cagliari, Roma “La Sapienza”, Napoli “Federico 2”” and Civic Library Art “Poletti” of Modena assist to this project. In May 2006, there were 36 reviews whose counting is completed or is in progress.

TechXtra
Description: Free service (excepted the subscription resources) that allows to search articles, books, technical reports, e-prints, thesis and the full text of most part of material. It's related to engineering, mathematics, computing.
Content: Herriot Watt University of Edinbourgh informaticians and librarians developped this service, that indexes 32 collections, whose descriptions you can see at the URL: www.techxtra.ac.uk
